CSI Herrett Museum Speaker series-October 11, 2022

Thank you to Ron James for inviting us to participate in the 2022-23 CSI Herrett Museum Speaker Series.  Our topic: Millennials to Boomers and Beyond: Why Women are Embracing Philanthropy.  Our panel consisted of: Gloria Gott-moderator, Sami Ashenbrener, Angela Chapman-McDavid, Jan McBride, Krhisten Quigley, and Linda Watkins. The panel provided insight and personal accounts of what being a part of giving locally means to them,  and the importance of community and collaboration!  We hope you left inspired to put your passions into action!

This was another great evening for several WGC members and other local leaders to share the impact of donating not only money, but also their time and voices to make our worlds just a little bit better!

Please join us at the Herrett Forum returns, live and in-person!

The WGC Grant Committee was working hard the first quarter of 2022 designing our processes and procedures along with our grant criteria for our grant program.
Our Grant Committee had a meeting with our entire membership in April to present the top contenders for grants. The membership was asked to rank them and vote and ballots were completed in May.
We were grateful to award $26,775 our first year due to the generosity of our membership, along with an additional donation received from a local trust. Those who received funding were:
College of Southern Idaho Refugee Program, the Children’s Museum of the Magic Valley, Mustard Seed Ministries, Rising Stars Therapeutic Riding Center, Twin Falls School District Education Foundation, Wellness Tree Community Clinic, and Gemstone Adaptive Climbing

The Women’s Giving Connection-Southern Idaho (WGC) had its kickoff Dec. 9th in Twin Falls at the Yellow Brick Café. Over 50 women were in attendance, along with representatives from the Wood River Women’s Foundation and the Boise Women’s Gift Alliance.  Cara Nielsen, from the Idaho Community Foundation (ICF), was another guest speaker who shared information about how their leadership and community impact team is available to receive the donations and help administer the grants for WGC. They are highly regarded as one of the most impactful state leaders in Philanthropy, granting making as well as donor and fund management.  The WGC is excited to work with ICF for investment support and endowment giving.

As of fall 2022, the WGC has 44 members who will be instrumental in shaping the direction of the WGC.  We are thrilled to report we just completed our first grant cycle and awarded $26,775 to seven local nonprofits!  Grant Applications for 2023 will open February 2023, so please share the news about this great opportunity with local nonprofits in the Magic Valley!
Exciting things are happening with this diverse group of philanthropic women!  All women are invited to join
in the energy of making a lasting impact in our community by pooled giving which will make a greater impact in addressing the needs of Southern Idaho and the Magic Valley region.
